Team Member Spotlight of the Month: Taylor

Piece with Ease would not have been brought to life without our founder—Taylor Kim, the visionary behind our organization. Accordingly, this spotlight is especially dedicated to our trailblazing president, whose leadership continues to guide our mission.

When asked about why she initiated Piece with Ease—a nonprofit committed to helping senior citizens with cognitive and mobility challenges—she said, “This nonprofit is deeply personal to me because both of my grandparents have been afflicted with arthritis. I just wanted to find a way for senior citizens with disabilities to have a good time while expressing their creativity.”

Her passion for launching this program was further strengthened by her outside experiences working at a hospital and offering care and hospitality to seniors and ICU patients. Taylor has also dedicated her free time to volunteering at a physical therapy clinic.

Taylor has expressed that her favorite part of leading Piece with Ease would have to be “the short encounters I have with the residents at the senior centers we visit. Hearing about glimpses of their lives, seeing pictures of their grandchildren and pets at home, or even a small smile from the seniors make the highlight of my day.”

At every workshop, Taylor is always at the front, filling the room with her bright energy and encouragement. She not only leads the class with step-by-step origami instructions but also takes time to visit each table, making sure every senior feels included and has fun. During a recent workshop in New Milford, Taylor made a conscious effort to engage the seniors in conversation. Upon hearing that an elderly woman had a cat, Taylor immediately went over and shared that she had a cat, sparking a warm exchange.

Furthermore, Taylor’s contribution to Piece with Ease extends beyond the workshops to the behind-the-scenes efforts that keep the program thriving. From designing creative lessons plans to coordinating schedules with local senior centers, she ensures that every detail is thoroughly managed.

Taylor shared that her ultimate goal through this nonprofit is “that more seniors can feel seen and celebrated for their differences, not left in shadows, neglected.”
